It’s been a long time since I’ve hated a game as much as I hate Winter Stars. The only reason this game hasn’t toppled Star Trek: Legacy from its top spot as worst game game ever played is that it’s a Kinect game and therefore had a much harder job to be great in the first place. Winter Stars has [...]

We attended the UK launch party of Kinect Sports: Season Two from Rare earlier on this week. The location for the event was a temporary Kinect Sports Ski Chalet located in the quite frankly awesome Ice Bar London. Once I’d got past the pair of husky dogs guarding the entrance I found the demo stations running the game and a [...]

Late one night in June we were escorted through the darkened booths of the E3 Expo for a special evening session with Microsoft’s Kinect stand. I got my groove on with Dance Central 2′s drop-in, drop-out multiplayer mode (squee!) and met Harmonix’s Lead Designer for Dance Central, Matt Boch. I’ve long maintained that Dance Central has the best Kinect implementation [...]

Welcome friends, followers, fellow gamers and fitness fanatics. This is the final tale of my journey to better health and a higher gamerscore. As those of you who have followed from the beginning will be aware I have been taking part in a challenge set by trade publication MCV in partnership with THQ. MCV called for games industry workers from [...]

Welcome back faithful readers to this week’s wonderful edition of To Kill a Gamer. Of course I am talking about my UFC 30 day challenge. Last week’s article discussed me battling T-push ups and family events to maintain my steely composure. This week I tackled dinosaurs.

Windows 7 is offering one lucky student the opportunity to have their living room completely redecorated and kitted out with the latest technology and gadgets around including a 3D TV, surround sound system, Xbox 360 250GB console with Kinect, laptop, Tablet PC and Windows Phones on Facebook. There’s also a Twitter hashtag for the competition, it’s #BDTH. Go take a [...]

Yep, it’s news time… Battlefield 3: The Battlefield 3 beta will be taking place during September 2011. At the moment access to this beta is limited to people who have bought the Medal of Honor Limited Edition. You can also keep an eye on EA’s Battlefield 3 beta page for more information. Avatar Kinect: Available as the newest gadget in [...]

Late into the dying moments of E3 2011 we finally got our hands on the new Wii U controller. Here’s me showing off my defensive skills with the only demo that even remotely resembled a game. The Pirate Demo! Erm… I mean… The Shield Pose Demo! Most of the technical demos were pretty dry, as you might expect. I have [...]

Hey everyone, welcome back to my training diary. As some of you will remember, last week’s entry covered my first 5 days with UFC: Personal Trainer. This week saw me push my body to the limits and experience both the highs and lows of an intense console-based workout. For those of you who are joining me fresh this week, UFC: [...]

Hulk Hogan’s Main Event was one of the surprise games at E3 for me. I wouldn’t describe myself as a wrestling fan but when the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) toured Singapore back in 1992-ish I did go along to see Hulk, Brett Hart and Tatanka playing out their “vendettas” on a live stage. Fabulous atmosphere, even though it was [...]

I have a confession to make. I fit into the media stereotype of a gamer quite well; beardy, long-haired and overweight. I also lack in confidence partly due to my body image and while I am all too happy spilling words out on to the Internet, I often fail in social situations. This is all going to change.

Look, a news post before midnight! We’ve just learned about the free-to-play browser-based Battlestar Galactica Online game. It has over 2 million registered users since it’s launch in Feb 2011 (How many are still active? Good question.) You can play as either the boring humans or the infinitely more interesting Cylons in a deep space fight to the death. Monkey [...]
