Nintendo was the last of the big companies to take the stage and bring a close this year’s pre-E3 media briefings. Obviously everyone was eager to see what Nintendo’s new console looks like and what Mario’s latest outing would be. Here’s what Nintendo revealed. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword This is coming to the Wii later on this year, [...]

With the Wii seemingly coming to the end of its lifecycle, and a new Nintendo console on the horizon, now seems a good time to look back at some great WiiWare games, that many Wii owners may have missed. The Wii Shop Channel is home to some cracking titles, but it is really not very user friendly, and Nintendo’s stubborn [...]

Everyone loves Spongebob Squarepants, right? He’s an adorable little sponge who lives underwater in Bikini Bottom (yes, that’s really what it’s called). Every day he gets up to hilarious shenanigans with his little neighbourhood friends, Patrick Star, Mr. Krabs, Squidward Tentacles, Sandy Cheeks and Sheldon Jared Plankton, Jr. No. I hate Spongebob Squarepants and everything his hyperactive, maniacal, overly loud, [...]

A Shadow’s Tale is a game that seems unsure of its own identity. It riffs on ideas and themes from some truly classic adventure games, and features some uniquely creative ideas, but sadly stops short of the classic status that it might have achieved. To help fuel its confusion, the game has been released under not one, but three different [...]

A couple of big game demos hit Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network* on the 3rd May 2011. First off we have the Red Faction: Armageddon demo in which you play as Darius Mason as he fights his way through the Martian sewers. There’s a crisis in Patch Land. Yin-Yarn the evil sorcerer has ruthlessly taken over and enslaved everyone. Worse still, whole fabric of Patch Land has been unravelled leaving it in pieces. Six pieces if you’re counting. Fortunately, a yarntastic Kirby is on hand to save the day and stitch Patch Land back together. Ok, the plot to this game is [...]

The Average Gamer travelled to Elephant and Castle in South London this morning to take a closer look at the Kirby yarnstorm that had been created by the talented women at Knit The City. Commissioned by Nintendo to herald the launch of the impossibly cute Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Knit The City had created a whole array of characters from the [...]

To promote the release of Kirby’s Epic Yarn on the Wii, Nintendo is giving the grayest area in the UK a makeover on the 24th Feb 2011. Elephant and Castle in South London was voted by Londoners the greyest place in the UK. Clearly some of them have never been to Hull ;-) So for one day only, Elephant and [...]

Traveller’s Tales are really churning out the LEGO games at the moment, what with LEGO Pirates of The Caribbean on the horizon too. Well, sit back and relax and gaze up this lovely LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars trailer and remember how excited you were when playing the very first LEGO Star Wars game. As you may have [...]

Disney have released a teaser trailer to their upcoming LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean game. Developed by Traveller’s Tales, it should come as no surprise that it will be very similar in format to the previous LEGO games which were based on films like Star Wars, Indian Jones, Batman and Harry Potter. Expect plenty of humour and general larking around [...]

One of my all time favourite games is now available for download on the Nintendo Virtual Console. Released in the arcades in 1987, Black Tiger is a classic 2D action/adventure game. As I may have mentioned before, I first stumbled upon this game in an arcade in Italy (Passo Tonale) whilst on a school ski trip with @TIKIPODltd in 1988. [...]

Michael Jackson: The Experience is everything you could expect from the creators of Just Dance; it’s fun, it has an awesome soundtrack and the potential for injury is off the charts. Twitter followers will know that I’m on a huge dance games theme lately. I have the utmost admiration for people who can play Para Para or Dance Dance Revolution [...]
