E3 2016: EA Press Conference

Andrew Wilson introduced EA Play as “A new type of show.” waved at Peter Moore broadcasting from the London show
Vince Zampella, CEO Respawn Entertainment came onto the stage to introduce Titanfall’s multiplayer mode. It looks a lot like the first Titanfall but with a grappling hook, some sort of pulse thing that looks like the biotic power from Mass Effect.
It will feature “6 new titans, more customisation options and a deep progression system.”
The single-player trailer was accidentally shown on EA Play’s YouTube channel prior to the conference reveal today. Rather than having people watch rips of the broadcast, they decided to officially release the trailer early.
Madden NFL 17
Peter Moore, Chief Competition Officer talked Madden. There’s a new commentary team and new ways to play in franchise mode.
EA will be running Weekly online contests with three new types of event.
- Challenger: (I totally wasn’t listening to this, will fill it in later
- Premier: Run in conjunction with partners
- Major: Marquis live events on a global stage.
There was a brief montage of eSports between some professionals. Woop, woop.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Aaryn Flynn, general manager of Bioware talked about ME:A. The game asks “How far will you go?” This is a bigger adventure filled with a whole new cast of memorable characters. It’s fully powered by the Frostbite engine. Apparently we’re going to Andromeda to build a new home for humanity. Still no gameplay. Girl explorer though!

Play To Give
EA are also introducing a new program called Play To Give. They’re partnered with HeForShe, SpecialEffect, CODE and National Center for Women & Information Technology
There are special missions in Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Galaxy of Heroes, FIFA 16 and MAdden NFL 16. At the end of Play To Give, EA will donate $1 million to the charities in celebration of play.
Alex Hunter is the star of the new campaign mode. His voice actor came onto the London stage to talk hyperbole about football. Then we saw a story mode trailer.
Premier league managers are in the game for the first time ever. Pep Guardiola, Arsène Wenger, and Jürgen Klopp. Jose Mourinho came on stage to banter with Peter Moore and complain about how they only picked three managers.
FIFA Producer Aaron McHardy talked about innovation to the game. 4 big transformations: set pieces have been rewritten to give you control, AI players are smarter
Patrick Söderlund, EVP of EA Studios introduced EA’s new indie program.

The studio head of Zoink came out to announce his game called Fé. It’s a personal narrative about our relationship with nature. A game without words. Everything in this world is connected. You play a tiny fox thing and have to explore the forest by learning songs from other creatures.
There will be a new action-adventure game from Visceral in 2018, an original narrative from Amy Hennig and her team. Respawn are doing a 3rd-person action-adventure game. There’s going to be Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, and a bunch of other games. Here is the trailer of studio people talking about how great it’s all going to be.
Gameplay trailer! There’s going to be weather effects to change the feel of maps and 64-player matches. Play well enough and you get to control an airship, armoured train or battleship.
