Nintendo Direct August 2013

Animal Crossing Plaza
Satoru Iwata and Satoru Shibata presented another Nintendo Direct this afternoon, covering the upcoming third party games

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be coming in early 2014. Presumably this is a localisation of the one released in Japan during November 2013.

Professor Layton: Azran Legacy will be available from 8th November. This will apparently be the very last time you team up with Professor Layton. (except for, y’know, the Phoenix Wright thing)

Animal Crossing New Leaf: There’s a new Animal Crossing community on Miiverse. There’s also an Animal Crossing Plaza for Wii U where you can see other people’s messages and screenshots and meet village animals. It’s available from the Nintendo eShop right now.

Satoru Shibata announced a European promotion for New Leaf – Welcome a Friend. Between 7th August and 7th September, if you register Animal Crossing New Leaf on Club Nintendo, you can get a free copy for a friend. They’ll need to redeem the code before 7th October.

Sonic Lost World for Wii U, a 3D Sonic platformer. Sonic will have three speed levels, making it accessible for all skills levels. He can vault over objects and run along walls, battling against The Deadly Six. The game will be out on 18th October from the eShop.

There’s also a 3DS version of the game coming, which will be able to communicate with the Wii U version. You’ll be able to create a custom character to co-op alongside Wii U Sonic.

Rayman Legends: Wii U players will be able to unlock lots of levels from Rayman Origins. You can play in a Mario costume. The game will be out on 29th August.

Art Academy Sketchpad was announced in a previous Nintendo Direct, and is a powerful sketch program for the Wii U Gamepad. It will be out on 9th August. Nintendo are working on a way to showcase the best submissions to the community.

Indie Games: Here’s a trailer of the indie games coming to Wii U and 3DS soon.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The shadowy triforce in the logo indicates a mirror world. Link must travel between the world of A Link To The Past and this mirror world. The new game is set many years after A Link To The Past, so you won’t be playing the same Link. This game will be out in November.

Wind Waker HD: We were told about some tweaks to the gameplay from the original version. Wind Waker actions are quicker and the collection activities near the end of the game have been fine-tuned. Wind Waker takes place a few months before Phantom Hourglass.

Super Smash Bros Wii U: Luigi will be a playable character

Pokémon Rumble U: Control toy versions of pokémon who got lost and need to find their way back to the toy store. Capture all 649 pokémon from 15th August. There’s a special password system that allows you to unlock certain pokémon. You’ll be able to get those passwords from the Nintendo UK Twitter and Wii U Facebook.

Kurg M01D is a music workstation allowing you to compose and play your own tunes on the 3DS.

Steam World Dig: Rusty the mysterious mining bot digs to find new minerals and explore an underground world. Discover the remains of civilization and save the world from evil.

Super Mario Bros 2: has been released on the Nintendo eShop today
Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan will be out on 20th August
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers: is coming on 13th September
Summer Carnival ’92: RECCA: Will be out on 3ds from 15th August
Mario Golf: World Tour: Delayed until 2014.
