GRID 2 Community Patch Coming Soon

GRID 2 - New Union Hood

Codemasters have announced a whole slew of improvements for GRID 2, detailed on the Codies Blog today. Biggest among them is the news that Demolition Derby mode will be coming to the game as a free download on all platforms. There’s no release date yet but it’s definitely happening.

There will also be two new track packs on the way but no details are available on those. Apparently they will include “two of the most requested circuits to date”.

At some point during August, a “Community Patch” will be coming. This will include loads of community requested tweaks:

  • Custom Playlist: You’ll get more money and experience for participating in the custom playlist. It’s no longer a penalty for not wanting to race the online playlists. This is open to further refinement so if you think it’s still a problem, post your feedback in the GRID 2 forums.
  • Hardcore Playlist: A new hardcore playlist is coming, which removes the use of flashbacks, turns on full mechanical damage and prioritises race events around circuits.
  • Level Cap: The online level cap will be raised from 30 to 99.
  • Fastest Lap Times: These will now display at the end of an online event, on the race results screen
  • New Liveries: They’re coming and will include some of the AI designs from single player.
  • Maximum Laps: The maximum will be increased from 5 up to 10. Anyone who wants longer races is advised to play the Endurance game mode.
  • Veto Weighting: Codies have made some changes to the system so that vetos are now much fairer and only require 51% of the lobby to make the vote for a change to occur.
  • Voice Option: You can now mute your own microphone.
  • Country Flags: These are coming back. During races, your flag will be next to your name plate and on the event results screen.
  • Clean Race Bonus: You get more money for racing clean.
  • Skip the Level up Graphic: You’ll be able to press a button to skip this.

Codies have also made some changes to the anti-cheat system. Obviously, they can’t provide details but hopefully the leaderboards will improve.

How’s that for a patch? Addresses all your needs?
