The Gaming Den WipEout Edition

After the first Gaming Den exceeded our wildest expectations, we’ve decided to go ahead and put on another one. Our cosy gaming extravaganza will continue on Saturday 23rd March and this time we’re featuring WipEout. All of the WipEouts. Even the one that didn’t capitalise the E.

Ami Nakajima Wipeout Playstation ExperienceThe Gaming Den will once again take over the Visual Collective gallery in Bethnal Green to feature wipEout, the anti-gravity racing classic. With three massive projectors (THREE!) covering the studio walls, you’ll be racing head to head with other gamers on wipEout HD and wipEout Fury, along with Vita crossplay on Wipeout 2048. The guys from WipeoutZone Forum will be running the competition and the best pilots will get to challenge the ultimate Feisar Test Pilot herself, Ami Nakajima.

Karl Jones, the lead designer of WipEout 2048 and Fury will also be attending the gaming den. Karl has previously worked on WipEout Pure, Pulse and HD during his time at Studio Liverpool. He is now the design director at SawFly Studios.

Over in the retro room we’ll have every version of WipEout ever made. Really. Of course, we’ll also have your favourite classic consoles and games. Race each other on Mario Kart just like you did in the N64 days. Challenge people to PowerStone 2, Dead or Alive 2, or Chu Chu Rocket on the Dreamcast. Whizz around the condiments in Micro Machines V3 on the PlayStation or check out the early days of FIFA 95 and Sonic 2 on the SEGA Mega Drive. We’ve plenty more, so check out the full list below.

Some of you will be pleased to hear that in addition to the cash bar (nearest cashpoint: Sainsbury’s) we will be serving food this time! I have no idea what form that will take, but will let you know as soon as I can.

Update 17th Mar 2013: Included info about Karl Jones (ex-Studio Liverpool designer) attending the gaming den and our new SEGA Saturn lineup.

UPDATE: The Central Line is closed on the day of our next event. How inconsiderate of TfL. The closest overground station is Cambridge Heath, which runs directly from Liverpool Street and is actually closer to the venue.
