Our friends over at #LeStudio52 are holding a gaming night in their Shoreditch lair on Friday 1st April 2011. The event kicks off at 6pm and will run until ~11pm. Don’t worry if you’re rubbish at games, you won’t be the only one. I do a great impersonation of a walking target whilst playing first person shooters. I’m completely rubbish [...]

The Average Gamer went along to the London meet-up for Angry Birds Day to mark the one year anniversary of the game. After collecting our highly prized red angry bird plush toy (read on for how to win one) we started off with a silent and frozen flash mob at Covent Garden in front of many bemused tourists and Christmas shoppers.

The Nike running game starts tomorrow (22nd Oct 2010) at 6pm. The premise is simple. Run between specially designated Grid phone boxes (yes, those BT phoneboxes that no one uses any more) and earn badges and points. Yes, that does mean running outside and doing actual exercise!

Jane McGonigal is coming to London! Jane who? The creator of Halo 2 alternate-reality game ilovebees in 2004 and currently the Director of Game Research and Development at Palo Alto’s Institute for the Future. I was at the Power to the Pixel Cross-Media Forum with the London Games Festival earlier this week and McGonigal’s work came up in three separate [...]

As some of you may have seen on Twitter, Nick and I were at the Halo: Reach launch party last night. As far as parties go, it was great! There was cheesy music entertainment. There was free booze. There were D-list celebrities that I didn’t recognise until after the fact. The only thing that was missing was the game. Halfway [...]

As an average gamer who pays for all her own games, I’m pretty good at avoiding the terrible ones. At £30+ quid a pop in an industry with stupendous marketing budgets I usually make damn sure I’ve done my research before buying anything. Yet I have a terrible disability when it comes to the two Computer Exchange branches just off [...]
