Expanding on last year’s Rocksmith, the 2014 version introduces a new Session Mode feature. Playing session mode allows you to jam with a virtual band that react to what you’re playing and will teach you how to improvise from the ground up. Not bad if you’re afraid of making a fool of yourself in front of real people.

Rocksmith 2014 - Riff Repeater

There are also improvements to the interface, the riff repeater, master mode and in-game effects from new guitar peripheral makers like Orange, Marshall and Eden. If you bought the previous version of Rocksmith, you can use the same “Real Tone” USB cable but you’ll have to pay a fee to import the old songs into the new version. Any DLC you bought should be compatible with both versions at no extra charge. Music licencing, eh?

Rocksmith 2014 will be out on 25th October for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
