Batman: Arkham Origins Deathstroke Trailer

Batman Arkham Origins - Gotham Backdrop
Batman: Arkham Origins got its first official trailer today. In this part-live action, part-CG video you’ll see Batman fighting it out with pre-order bonus character Deathstroke against a dark and gloomy generic shipping container setting. There’s also some guy in a black skull mask and some other guy with a robotic eye. Can you tell that my knowledge of Batman’s DC universe is limited to the films?

What you don’t see is any gameplay whatsoever. What even is this game?

It’s being developed by WB Games Montréal, the same studio who worked on the Armored Edition Wii U enhanced port of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham City.

The game itself is a prequel to the Rocksteady games and, according to GamesRadar, feels very similar. It offers the same style of swooping travel around around the city and the only new device they saw was the Remote Hook, which drags two items together.

My reliable source, The Internet, tells me that skull mask guy is Black Mask and will be the main villain for Arkham Origins.

Arkham Origins’ Black Mask carries a deep hatred for Batman, and that manifests as the central threat facing Batman in the game. Black Mask seeks out a cadre of the world’s best killers, and promises each a reward for bringing down Batman. “It’s basically Batman’s worst nightmare,” says narrative director Dooma Wendschuh. “We have eight of the best assassins in the world who’ve come together to Gotham City for one night, Christmas Eve of all nights, to kill the Bat.”
– Matt Miller, The Nemesis Of Batman: Arkham Origins, Game Informer.

The eyeball guy? No idea. You tell me.
