TAG_DPadSmallWell, today’s news is packed with freeness and there’s nothing better than gaming for free is there?

Maybe because no one is buying it any more, or just that Valve Software have no more space in their Scrooge McDuck like money bin, but whatever the reason Team Fortress 2 is now free to play forever. If you haven’t played this game go and download it right now as it’s a fantastic multiplayer shooter.

To accompany this momentous occasion Valve Software have released a scarily accurate representation of what it’s actually like to be a cardiothoracic surgeon ;-)

thatgamecompany, the developer of the recent Flower PSN game have announced that there will be a online private beta for Journey. If you want to take part then you need check the PlayStation blog and their Facebook page on Monday (27th June 2011) for details. If you have no idea what Journey is then take a look at the E3 2011 trailer for the game on The Average Gamer video channel.

Bethesda has announced that the Brink Agents of Change DLC will be released in early July. It will be free for the first 2 weeks following release, so you better get it quick. The DLC contains:

  • 5 new player abilities
  • 2 new outfits
  • 2 new environments
  • 2 new weapon attachments

A few weeks ago we talked about the new subscription-based Call of Duty: Elite service. Activision have published a FAQ explaining the bits that are free and what’s part of the premium subscription.

The OnLive service that allows you to play core games TV without owning a gaming PC or console will be coming to the UK in autumn. You can reserve your OnLive name now. Info about the service is available on the US site.
