Pinball FX is Very Confusing

May 11th, 2007 | By Debbie "Weefz" Timmins | Category: News, Rants, Xbox 360

I’m a sucker for a pinball game. What can I say? They’re quick, they’re casual and most of all, they’re simple. Sort of.

I played the XBLA demo for ten minutes, decided it wasn’t crap and bought it on the spot. You’d think I’d learn by now, hey? Pinball game mechanics are simple. I haven’t yet seen a pinball game where the rules are straightforward.

For example, on the Pinball FX ‘Agents’ table you can get the message

“The Informator has Reported. MEET HIM”

The wha’? The who? For a start, Informator isn’t even a word. You mean Informer, or Informant. I suppose The Informator might be a robot, in which case I’d be prepared to let it slide in the name of sci-fi atmosphere.

But the point is, how the heck do I meet The Informator? You tell me. Click through for a high-resolution screenshot of the Agent’s table.

*hint* Apparently it’s NOT the ramp on the right with the picture of the dodgy-looking bloke. I tried that.

ive played it and your right it is confusing but it lookes good when you see it in pic but it is really confusing

  3. Weefz says:

Oh yeah, it’s a good game. Just a lot of “You want me to do what??”

Not keen on the Extreme table. It keeps saying “Yeeeeah, Boy!” at me. Very annoying.

  4. TheFluffyFist says:

Yep, 1st table is entertaining, but the 2nd table is just total rubbish, especially with that “yeeeeah boy” comment all the effing time.
3rd table (my personal favourite) is great. If only I could meet the elusive Informater!

Also the achievements with this game are down to complete luck. I’ve absolutely no idea how I unlocked all my achievements so far, nor how to unlock the remaining ones.

  5. Weefz says:

Not complete luck. There is a method to the madness.

It’s just not documented anywhere :P

  6. TheFluffyFist says:

Well, ok, it’s complete luck with my pinball skills. Random ball bashing ahoy!

  7. Jason M says:

The Informator… what an elusive chap (or girl) he(she) is.

Here’s how this part of the Agent table works.

    1. Hit the target (top right) marked “i” to start the “Meet the Informator” feature.

    2. You may notice the face targets (bottom table left and right) have changed state and one will begin flashing and stay lit. This is the informator, well sort of. You need to hit the lit face target (it will change between all six) and repeat for another 2 lit face targets. You get 5,000,000 for each correct target.

    3. Once you have completed the 3 targets you will get an “Evidence Collected” message and a lots of extra points – I think 30,000,000.

    And that’s the Informator mission.

I completely agree about the “Extreme” table it’s ____.

Anyway hope this helps some people out!

  8. Weefz says:

Hey, nice one. I could do with an extra 30 million. Thanks, Jason M :)

Did you figure this out from experience?

  9. Jason M says:

    Hey Weefz,

Yeah, it took me a little while to work out what was going on… Turns out there’s quite a bit to the Agent table, there should really be a guide to all the missions and bonuses…

    :)

hey, thank Jason. ill have to try that. does anyone know how to complete the bungie jumping mission??? i’ve tried hundreds of times.

  11. Jonny_eh says:

To complete the bungee jump mission on the Xtreme table, you need to hit the ramp at the top top of the table (using the extra flipper).

  12. Koral says:

Thanks! this looks like a nice game.
I dont yet have any pinballs on the XBox.

Win the Final Confrontation game mode on the Agents pinball table.

One of the three dreaded tournament achievements, this one is best done by
doing the player match technique as read above. Basically what you need to do
is collect 6 pieces of evidence, by completing all four missions and various
modes, on the table. Once in the Final Confrontation, DO NOT LOSE YOUR BALL, if
you do, you will be forced to start all over.

To complete the Final Confrontation all you need to do is shoot all of the
flashing ramps, and then go to headquarters. Sounds simple enough, but with 3
balls it can get rather hectic. You might want to practice some first by
    starting some multiball modes.
