The Average Gamer

Super Mario Chocolate Eggs

I was idly strolling through my local corner shop the other day, as I do. After searching up and down the aisles for Guinness Marmite (to no avail) and perusing the honeycomb (you know it’s fresh when there are ants stuck in it), I proceeded to the till.

OMG, gamer food!

Super Mario Chocolate Egg

Super Mario Milk Chocolate Eggs! Look, it’s internationally licensed by Nintendo and everything. Obviously I had to buy one. Cheap at 50 pence each.

Time for tasty chocolatey goodness…

Hey, waitaminnit… this is a Kinder Egg but without the delicious milky inner layer. It’s even the same size.

Oh well. I never liked the milky inner layer. This chocolate doesn’t taste too bad. Pretty standard cheap milk chocolate: too sweet for my taste. Let’s check out the toy. It’s Nintendo after all.

Super Mario Chocolate Egg - Toy that doesn't look Nintendo-related at all

Hmm… this doesn’t look good.

Wait, of course! It’s… it’s… Super Mario’s Travelling Zoo Truck with Caged Lions?

On the bright side, the toy had good build quality. The parts snapped together perfectly. You could pick it up by the windscreen and no bits would fall off. Obviously this toy is not suitable for under-threes, due to small parts. It says so on the wrapper.

Have you ever bought any game-related food? Was it as disappointing as this?
