The snowmen above can be found in the Wintersday event taking place in Guild Wars until the 1st Jan 2007.

To all you American Wii owners - I’m jealous! You get to play R-Type on the virtual console today. We poor Europeans don’t get it until the 29th Dec 06. Grrr.

Also for everyone who got a Wii console for Christmas:

  • Check out our Mii parade post to find lots of Wii codes.

I’m somewhat curious about the prices of the Wii virtual console games in the US, Europe and Australia. In Japan, R-Type and the other PC Engine games cost 600 points, Mario64 costs 1000 points, SNES games cost 800/900 points, NES games are 500, and MegaDrive games are 600. One Wii point is exactly 1 yen, so Mario64 currently costs GBP 4.30 at today’s JPY-GBP exchange rate.
There, just get the US and Ozzie prices and you can do a comparative post on it! =)

well the USA and UK r-type are the full 8 levels (costing 800 points), whereas Japan has to buy r-type 1 (4 levels) and r-type 2 (the last 4 levels of the original r-type) to get the whole game. So Japan gamers have to pay a bit more in this case :(

I want to buy all r-type versions from every region please nintendo! Hello? ARE YOU LISTENING??!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!
