Renegade Ops Review (360, XBLA)

Few titles capture the idea of the badass as well as this summer’s action blockbuster, Renegade Ops, available on the XBLA, PSN and Windows platforms. Developed by Avalanche Studios (the same folks that brought us serial ‘blow-up-everything-a-thon’ Just Cause) and published by Sega, this top down, vehicle-based shooter has the potential to be more enjoyable than watching Hans Gruber fall [...]

Renegade Ops – Hands-on Preview and Gameplay Vid (360)

With its lush tropical rainforest setting and my armoured car somersaulting off another huge jump before crashing through some handily placed straw huts, Renegade Ops has more than a whiff of Just Cause 2 about it. This is hardly surprising since that was the last game from Avalanche Studios. What struck me right from the off is that I had [...]

SEGA Rally Online Arcade – Currently In Development

SEGA Rally lives! After several years in the wilderness, following the release of SEGA Rally Revo back in 2007, the SEGA Rally franchise is back with SEGA Rally online arcade. I really liked SEGA Rally Revo, so I’m happy to see the SEGA Rally franchise live on despite the closure of the SEGA Racing Studio in 2008. Currently in development [...]

Dreamcast Compilation Incoming. Sweet

If, like me, you have fond memories of the Dreamcast, prepare to dig out your rose tinted glasses and get your game on in 2011. Whilst no official release date has been announced, the Dreamcast compilation will be coming to retail ‘soon’, on 360 and PS3, as revealed in comments made by Sega bigwig Alan Pritchard earlier this week. Sadly [...]

Vanquished

I had a good rant earlier in the week about location-based apps – specifically Kingmaker and how it gives me a terrible experience with the Fable brand. Here’s how to do location-based marketing exceptionally well, from SEGA’s Vanquish. Stick your UK postcode in and let rip. If, like us, your postcode doesn’t get enough coverage (boo!) try your mum’s house, [...]

The Club – Is Your Name On The List?

A new game from Bizarre Creations (Project Gotham, F1 games) that's not a driving game! Must have been the influence of Sega. Wait a minute, no they make loads of driving games too.

Preview: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games

Sega held another blogger’s day this week, like the one we were at in August for Sega Rally. This time we got to play Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Despite being a real-world tie-in, this is a bloody good game. It’s officially approved by the Olympic committee for the upcoming Beijing games. They had a lot of influence [...]

Sega Rally Review (360)

I almost need to review Sega Rally twice. Once with the standard 360 controller and once with the set-up that Sega provided us when we visited them in August.Sega Rally Sparco/Logitech Racing Pods Why? Well, playing Sega Rally whilst sitting in a Sparco racing seat, with force-feedback steering wheel (and pedals) I was in driving heaven. It's perfect. You can feel every bump as your car drives over all the track deformations and as it power slides around another lovely corner.

10 Things You Should Know About Sega Rally (Revo)

There’s a new Sega Rally (a.k.a. Sega Rally Revo) coming out this September 28th, 2007. It’s good. We’ve played it. The Sega customer relations people gave us lots of info – some of it propaganda and some of it plain truth. We’ve filtered out most of the propaganda for you. Here’s what you need to know: It feels like the [...]
