EGX Games Expo Moves to Birmingham

NEC Birmingham
EGX, formerly known at the Eurogamer Expo will be moving to NEC Birmingham in 2015 and looks to be staying there for at least two years. In the announcement on Eurogamer.net:

Gamer Network, which also publishes this website, has announced that next year’s EGX will take place at Birmingham’s NEC from 24th to 27th September 2015.

The UK’s biggest games event, EGX is set to grow further as part of the move, which forms part of a multi-year deal.

Ticket prices will stay the same as this year’s London show and organisers Gamer Network are planning to provide train and coach ticket discounts for people travelling to Birmingham.

This seems like a good move for people who aren’t in or around London. I was at Rezzed there earlier this year; the NEC has great travel links and can easily handle the number of people who attend EGX. There are great travel links and accommodation will typically be cheaper than visiting London.

They’ve not completely abandoned the capital and its high concentration of gamers. EGX Rezzed has been expanding from its indie PC roots into console gaming and will be held at Tobacco Dock on 12th – 14th March. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Are you disappointed or pleased by the move?
