Nintendo Direct 18th December

Mario Kart 8
Satoru Iwata presented another Nintendo Directo today covering the company’s plans for 2014.

The first announcement is a Dynasty Warriors Zelda game. Oh. My. God. The working title is Hyrule Warriors and it will be coming to the Wii U at some point in 2014.

Kirby Triple Deluxe. In this 3D-ish platforming game Kirby has over 20 different abilities including an extra-powerful inhale that will open new pathways, nd the ability to hit enemies with bells.

There’s a new multiplayer mode that holds the Ultimate Copy ability. Also Dedede’s Drum Dash, which has you playing Dedede bouncing along a platform of drums to collect items.

Yoshi’s New Island. It still exists. Coming to 3DS in Spring 2014.

Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Transporter: These are launching on 27th December. Bank will cost £4.49 per year while Transporter will be free once you’ve got Bank. There’s a free trial available until 31st January. Use the service before 30th Sept 2014 and you’ll get a free Celebi pokémon for your games.

Donkey Kong Country: Cranky Kong will be a playable character that has his own unique abilities, none of which were detailed in teh broadcast. Collecting 100 bananas on any character will allow a special move that turns all on-screen enemies into money. Available 21st February.

Sonic Lost World: Two new DLC packs will be available. The first is Yoshi’s Island Zone, which will feature eggs and many creatures from Yoshi’s world. It’s available now for free.

Wii Sports Club: Iwata announced a new sport – golf. Hang on, I thought we already knew about this. It’s available now. The latest system update apparently allowed Nintendo to pushed the game onto Wii Us, so you can participate in a 24 hour free trial whenever you want. Seems a bit cheeky to me. I have no interest in Wii Sports games.

NES Remix: Loads of classic NES games. It’s compatible with Miiverse and features stamps you can use to decorate your Miiverse postings. It’s available now for £8.99

NES Remix

Dr Luigi: It’s like Tetris but you have to match colours. When you successfully chain combos, you change the colours of your opponent’s next piece at the last minute, screwing up their plans. This will be released on 15th January in Europe.

Luigi DioramaYou can buy a Luigi diorama from the Club Nintendo Stars catalogue to commemorate this, the year of Luigi. It can be yours for only 7000 stars.

Satoru Shibata made some Europe-specific announcements.

Wii U Karaoke: Itis getting Christmas songs and Japanese songs.

Join Nintendo Network Promotion: Register a new or existing Nintendo Network ID (NNID) on your 3DS and you can get Super Mario Bros Deluxe for free to play on the 3DS Virtual Console. Codes will be sent between 13th and 28th February, to the email registered to your NNID.

Nintendo will be running a sale over December and Christmas in the eShop.

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: It will be released in Europe on 28th March.
