WWE ’13 SummerSlam Weekend Roster Reveal

It’s nearing that time of year again, with many sports games releasing their latest yearly outings. But what about sports ‘entertainment’? Yes, you’ve guessed it, WWE is back to hopefully expand on last year’s lukewarm-received re-jig.

The big news this past weekend, at SummerSlam weekend no less, was the full revealing of WWE ‘13’s roster. For any WWE fan new or old, it’s pretty much awesome sauce. There is significant recognition of the old ‘Attitude Era’ in WWE ’13 (mid 90’s – 2002), and the roster certainly reflects this, with the likes of the entire DX team, and no less than three versions of Triple H. Pictures at the bottom reveal the Attitude Era superstars in full.

This has no doubt come about from Vince McMahon settling disputes with former superstars who were axed or left the company over the years. Many re-signed under production/training contracts, but their old gimmicks are still plugged wherever possible. These additions, such as former DX members Road Dogg and Billy Gunn, had not been seen in a WWE video game since Smackdown 2 for the PS One, and are very welcome nostalgic entries, along with many others.

Each year WWE games have only marginally improved. Even last year’s entry, which in many ways was a revamp, was still too over-familiar. However, with a roster such as this, fans may not care even if there is no improvement on WWE ‘12. After all, being the superstars is what WWE games are all about.

WWE ’13 will be released on 2nd November 2012 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.
