GameCity 7 Dates and Details

The dates for this year’s GameCity Festival have been announced; the festival that tranforms Nottingham’s city centre into a paradise for gamers. This year it will last a full seven days from 20th to 27th October with educational sessions, inspirational game culture, a bit of history and, of course, prizes.

  • STEAM School: This will be open for the whole week and focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The Mozilla Foundation, The British Library, Crytek UK, TT Games and Nottingham’s Local Education Authority are all involved in bringing this course to the festival.
  • Peter Molyneux’s Bootcycle: I’m not entirely sure what a bootcycle is but Molyneux’s new company 22Cans will hold a series of events covering his inspirations and his time in the industry.es and more.
  • Films: Broadway Cinema will present a series of panel debates, Q&As, and other interactive events exploring the relationship between film and video games.
  • 30 Years of Commodore 64: The National Videogame Archive and GameCity will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the C64 The team behind 80s magazine Zzap!64 will be reunited to create a one-off commemorative issue of the magazine.
  • The GameCity Prize: Later in May, an academy of experts will nominate a group of the most exciting and interesting games released in the past 12 months. During the Festival the prize will be awarded to the one game that celebrates the cultural significance of video games.
