LotusRenaultF1_LogoRace Room are offering up a once in a lifetime prize to the winner of its “so you think you can drive” competition. Taking place at this year’s Canary Wharf Motor Expo between 6th – 12th June 2011, the person who sets the fastest lap on the F1 race simulators will spend a day as a driver for the Lotus Renault GP F1 team at the F1 Hungaroring Circuit in Hungary.

Yes, you did read that correctly. You could be driving a 2011 Lotus Renault F1 car on your own! The very same car that Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld drive in this year’s F1 World Championship. You will also get to spend time with the F1 drivers during their preparation for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Prize details in full (featuring an i-drive experience):
  • Flights for people to Budapest, including chauffer service
  • 5* accommodation at the Four Seasons hotel
  • Cocktail reception and dinner
  • Breakfast and lunch at the Hungaroring circuit
  • Full day driving experince (Formula Renault 2.0, Lotus GT4 & F1 single-seater)

To find out who can set the fastest lap, Race Room have set up 12 F1 simulators in Jubilee Place, Canary Wharf. The simulators are all linked together so you’ll be racing around the Hungaroing F1 Circuit with 11 other drivers. Remember, it’s not about winning the race, but setting the fastest lap. Spectators will be able to watch how the race unfolds via two 42inch plasma TV showing live footage from the race.

The simulators are running software developed by Swedish Developer SimBin. I would suggest learning the circuit before trying to set a hot lap. A modern F1 game like F1 2010 from Codemasters would be a good place to start. There is also a detailed circuit map on Formula1.com and a video of the circuit from BBC F1 available too.

Event details:

Jubilee Place is right next to the Canary Wharf Underground Station with is on the Jubilee line. It is also a short walk from either the Canary Wharf or Heron Quays DLR Stations.

Good luck to everyone who enters. Let us know what you thought of the simulators.
