Dungeons – Dungeon Management Anyone?

Kalypso Media is currently working on a nice looking Dungeon management game called rather creatively – Dungeons. Remember how awesome Dungeon Keeper was from Bullfrog? Well, Dungeons looks to be the closest we are going to get to a modern version of Dungeon Keeper. On the face of it Dungeons does look the part with some nicely detailed and suitably complex looking dungeons:

According to Kalypso Media the basic premise of Dungeons is as follows:

In Dungeons, our protagonist falls victim to a devious plot hatched by his vile, nasty and thoroughly vicious ex-girlfriend and finds himself at the bottom of the underworld hierarchy and the top of the dungeon pile. In his world, that is about as bad as it can get. Our lord must have his revenge, and make his way back down the dungeon levels to his rightful place – but first he must deal with his new bosses, the three despicable Dungeon Lords who stand in his way.

The key to your revenge and hero killing dungeons will be the management of your minions and your creativity. I do like a bit of minion management, especially when they do exactly what I want, however despicable the request ;-)

Personally, I don’t think there aren’t enough dungeon type games available nowadays. Instead we are bombarded with stupid amounts of almost indistinguishable first person shooters. So it is refreshing to see Kalypso Media having the guts to develop something different. Hopefully this will be different in a Dungeon Keeper type of way.

I will be keeping tabs on this little fella. Keep checking back for all your Dungeon game updates.

A delight to see that someone is finally brining this under-appreciated genre of Dungeon Management back to life.
Kalypso seem to be doing it justice.
Looking forward to spending long hours into the night immersing myself in cavernous dungeons again.
