MAG Open Beta – 4th to 10th Jan 2010

Sony have announced that from today (4th Jan 2010) you can sign up and play an open beta of MAG on the PS3. MAG (Massive Action game) major selling point is the ability for up to 256 people to play online in one giant battle.

After you’ve downloaded the 298MB file from PSN, then a 38MB patch, and finally then between 1.8 and 2.3 GB of game data depending on region you get to play. Phew!

There are 2 modes available in this open beta:

64-player Sabotage mode
256-player Domination one

Also if you were involved in the closed beta trials, then you will only have to download the update, rather than the mammoth install again! Also they have fixed the download issue which means you can resume it, rather than starting all over again.

Nick started gaming in the early 1980s on Nintendo's Game & Watch handhelds before spending a serious amount of time playing Elite on the BBC Micro.
