It seems that the idea of providing instructions about how to start a Red Bull air race game in the Red Bull space in Home wasn’t on Sony’s agenda. Maybe they thought it would force people to chat and find out use the internet. Anyway for those of you who haven’t worked it out yet, here’s how.
- Walk up to one of the air race planes
- Zoom by pressing R3
- Move around until you get the option to start race
- Smoke on!

I've found that the Race is something that can be targetted like other people (their names appear at the bottom of the screen. You can only start the race if you can target it. You can't target it if other people are too close. So, for the best chance, find a space away from other people (you don't have to be right on the fence – that is often far too crowded) if there is someone's name on your screen, press X to target and then re-target (L or R) until it says race.
After spending 10 minutes standing around gazing at the pretty sky and the pretty planes with a group of Home users who's only words were also "Eh? WTF?", I turned to the interwebs and you've saved me. Thanks heaps.
