PS Shoot

Posted on 14 December 2008 by Weefz

Anyone else seen the short films over at PS Shoot?

Sony have set up six emerging directors with award-winning film-makers (like Jerry Bruckheimer) to each create a film based on PlayStation brand keywords one of the one of the words that encapsulate the essence of PlayStation; Discover, Create, Play, Share, Connect and Challenge.

So far I’ve watched Discover (rubbish) and half of Create (promising concept but the first minute was very dull). You can see them on the PS Shoot website or apparently download hi-def versions from the PlayStation store itself.

I found the YouTube trailer and the first film-and-a-half painful enough. They take themselves far too seriously.

Are any of the rest worth watching?

This looks like the latest attempt at viral marketing from Sony. Don't they realise that if you set out to create something like this (rather than creating a video and letting it go viral) that you're making a mistake. Wrong way round!

Not seen any of them yet, but I intend to watch them all tomorrow.

Yeah, they're not getting the appeal of viral, are they? I can see that they're trying to push the multimedia aspect but arthouse short films aren't going to shift £250 machines.
