Almost two weeks ago, we wrote up a preview of the Wii game Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, which will be available from Friday. Sega have put together a great video of the events. In the preview I talked about how the controls attempt to model the sports themselves; around the 20-second mark of the video, you can see people frantically flapping the Wiimote and nunchuck – that’s how you sprint and how some of the characters swim. It’s fine for the 100m sprint… a bit tiring for the forearms but over quickly. 400m hurdles is another matter entirely! Perhaps us girls just don’t have the wrist stamina required…
Further in, at 1:30 you can catch a brief glimpse of fencing and soon after, a nice clip of the archery section. At 2:30 there are some very strange actions going on. I have no idea what they were doing but it’s all good clean fun, I’m sure.
Finally, at 3:30 you can see that they managed to salvage some footage of of my interview. There’s a highly embarrassing clip of me looking strange and trying to speak coherently in front of a video camera. It’s complicated, I tells ya! But that’s what makes it a great game and, as I said last time, definitely my pick for Christmas.

Hehe, I’m lurking in the background for some of this video.
Managed to avoid being filmed playing Sonic and Mario. It probably would have scared little children anyway. It wasn’t pretty.
