Did You Know? Gears of War Co-op Achievements

Xbox Live Logo Did you know that in the Gears of War split-screen co-op mode, the secondary player gets all the ‘Completed Act One’ (or two, Three, etc) Xbox Live Achievements, as well as the main player? I didn’t know until we played it last week.

It’s brilliant! It also means that I have more Gears of War achievements than FluffyFist because I got Dom’s achievements as well. Heehee…

(For those of you who don’t have the game, Dominic Santiago is the secondary player character. There are 60 gamerpoints that you only get by playing as Dom, like Dom-curious – complete 1 co-op chapter as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty )

This was another of the little annoyances in Lego Star Wars 2 that marred the fun of playing. Two of you could spend hours playing the whole story but only the main player got the achievements. Rather an oversight for a game designed for co-operative play, I feel. It was the reason that I had to play most of the game solo – all the people I know with gamertags weren’t too impressed that they would do half the work and get none of the acknowledgment. Sure, I’ll play through the story again as the support character but it’s not as much fun when you know that you’re going to have to play everything twice through.

Do you know of any other games that give main achievements to support players?
