UK Games Festival Update – Nottingham

Game City, Nottingham, 25-29 October 2006The website for Game City in Nottingham has gone live. Game City will be running from the 25th to the 29th October 2006 in various venues around the city. Here’s a sample of events:

  • Arcade Trail. Coin-operated arcade games. Along a trail. Specifically, “a heritage tour of arcade game history”.
  • Everybody Dies. Introversion (creators of Darwinia) talking about their latest game, Defcon. It’s coming out on 29th September 2006.
  • Philip Wride. He runs the UK’s only professional PC gaming team.
  • GameCity Lab. Experimental research, 3D projectors [Oooo…] and VR displays.
  • Inside Lego Star Wars II. Jonathan Smith of Traveller’s Tales talks about LSW2. [Super cute game. “Bonus” levels are rubbish. Time trials are not a bonus!]
  • Sunday Quiz. It’s a videogame pub quiz. I smell serious geekage at this event. Will pass, thanks.

This is only a small sample of the events on offer. Have a look at the official Game City Events page for the full list. Looks good enough that I almost want to use up my days off work to go.

Almost.
