Lego Star Wars II Announced!

Lego Star Wars Leia, Han and Luke with lightsaber Yaaaaay! :) It’s going to be based on the original Star Wars trilogy. Yay again! :) It’ll be developed by Traveller’s Tales, the same guys who worked on the original, and is planned for release in Autumn 2006 on GBA, Gamecube, DS, PC, PS2, PSP and Xbox but not Xbox 360.

From the official announcement:

  • Levels feature vehicles and creatures that players can ride or exit at will.
  • In Free Play mode, gamers can customize more than 50 new playable characters by mixing and matching body parts.
  • On certain as-yet-unspecified platforms, a game save from the first LEGO Star Wars can unlock as many as 56 additional characters for Free Play.
  • Free Play with vehicles.
  • New character-specific attacks and maneuvers.
  • Playable mini-kit vehicles. (Cool! Collecting them did seem a bit pointless in the original)
  • An optional advanced mode for experienced players. (yes, they are that vague)

If it’s as cute as the last game, I’m buying it! :) There’s nothing quite like watching Lego men with lightsabers bouncing around under your control… Except maybe watching Lego C3-PO hopping about with one leg and one arm missing – I spent quite a lot of time in the cafe slicing and dicing those androids – heehee! :D

The original Lego Star Wars game was probably the best game I played last year (aside from the Episode 3 section. That kinda sucked, but given the material they had to work with…)

Looking forward to it!
