DOOM - The Movie Review

Posted on 05 December 2005 by Weefz

It’s RUBBISH!

And not in an action-packed-but-no-plot way, which is what I was expecting and would have loved. It’s rubbish because they started out with a team of 8 boring people and went down the horror-suspense route of having them picked off by monsters one by one but without the mildly entertaining relationship banter and fit semi-naked people usually present in horror movies. Apparently they forgot that they were making Doom and we know there are monsters. There’s no suspense there. Just get to the carnage already!

There is a brilliant 5 minute sequence near the end - the FPS section you may have seen in the trailer. That’s most of the best action bits and The Rock gets to do his wrestling but-with-wire-effects bit near the end which is also pretty good. Pity you have to sit through the rest to get there.

Oh, closing the nano-door is kinda cool too…

Get the DVD (on sale), some mates and a whole lotta beer.
