Bioware recruits through competition

Bioware Corp Logo
Bioware are running a module-writing competition to find new writers. Anyone who wants to work as a writer for them should submit a medieval fantasy Neverwinter Nights module made using the basic Aurora toolset (the one that shipped with the game). You can get the full guidance and a few tutorials from their website. Main details are:

  • A maximum of four characters. One player character and a maximum of three non-playable characters.
  • A maximum of 3500 words in total including dialogue and setting.
  • You must tell a complete story in the form of a traditional BioWare side-quest and account for different endings/ multiple resolutions.
  • You are only allowed to use one 4×4 area in the Toolset to tell your whole story.
  • No combat or special skill use.
  • Just use the NWN retail toolset; don’t use any community add-ons.
  • Dialogue should be no longer than 2-3 lines at a time.
  • Do not use modern slang.
  • Use a medieval fantasy setting.

There are a lot of options to consider when creating a module in the Toolset, but it is important to remember that BioWare will only be interested in the writing.

The contest deadline is January 30th, 2006. Doesn’t look like the Aurora toolset is available for download unforutnately but you can get Neverwinter Nights from Play.com for £7.99, which does include it. The top 8 module writers will each win a bunch of stuff from the Bioware store as well as being considered for the job. Good luck to anyone who enters!
