Splinter Cell: Blacklist Interview – Sebastian Ebacher

Splinter Cell Spies vs Mercs Interview
Sean met up with Sebastian Ebacher, producer on Splinter Cell: Blacklists’s Spies vs Merc multiplayer mode to get the details on the new and classic versions.

Spies vs Merc was the most-requested game mode by fans, giving Ubisoft no choice but to implement it in the game. The main difference in this asymmetric multiplayer mode is that mercs are constrained to the ground while spies get access to “verticality”, the ability to climb.

The new Blacklist version of the mode allows customisation. You can choose your vision mode, your gadgets and your armour, with over 500 possible combinations of loadout. There are some presets to get you started, but once you’re familiar with the options, you’re better off building a loadout to fit your personal playstyle.

The classic version is limited to 2 vs 2 players, no customisation and no lethal weapons for the spy. You’ll only have your stun gun for direct contact. You’ll be heavily relying on shadows to reach your objective, so classic mode environments have different lighting to support this.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be released on 23rd August for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
