Gaming Den: 11th August Streetpass Edition

Loading Bar

The Gaming Den returns once again with a star line-up of Nintendo games. This time we’re hosting a StreetPass event on Sunday 11th August. As well as the usual retro games room, we’re featuring Animal Crossing! Bring your 3DS and check out other people’s homes. Make friends. Swap fruit. I have a whole orchard of Perfect Cherries for trade.

Other StreetPass games are welcome too, of course. Perhaps you’ll find that elusive Mii for one of the StreetPass Quests, or pick up a pink puzzle piece you’ve been hunting for ages. I’ll probably be in the corner begging for help with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, so all advice is welcome there. Courtesy of Nintendo, we’ll also have the latest Wii U releases available to play – Pikmin 3 and New Super Luigi U will be on show.

We’re moving this month to a far more central location. Many of you may already know Loading Bar at MADD. It’s a little gaming paradise set in the middle of Soho, just off Shaftesbury Avenue. That’s picture of it above that I filched from their website because I’m in it.

With three bespoke arcade machines already in place, we’ll be bringing our retro room along for one day only to kit out the basement floor as a shrine to your childhood memories. Come play Super Smash Bros Melee, F-Zero and other classics on the PS One, GameCube, Dreamcast and more. See the full list of available games here and tell us in the comments if there’s anything you think we should add.

You can also try out retro-themed Aqua Kitty from Tikipod Ltd. Recently released on XBLA, this fast-paced, submarine side-scroller got excellent reviews when it first launched.

We’ll have prizes for top scores, food and drink available at the bar and plenty of fellow gamers. Best of all, entry is FREE. We’ll be there all day so pop along to say hi and grab those Streetpasses.
