Phantasy Star Online – Open Beta on Xbox360

Yay, there’s an open, free beta test of the upcoming Phantasy Star Online (PSO) game starting tomorrow. I used to play this when it first came out on the Dreamcast many years ago (sob, poor Dreamcast, no one bought you!) and it was quite a lot of fun, if you avoided using the all American servers which were rife with player killing and corruption!

Anyway here’s the details for this open beta:

• Xbox Live Gold account holders only
• Beta software available on Xbox Live Marketplace between 11th – 12th October 2006
• Beta runs from the 11th – 18th October Extended till the 21st Oct 2006
• Participants get to play though a portion of the game

Update 13th Oct 06: Here is the “latest” official word on this open beta:

The Phantasy Star Universe Xbox 360 Open Beta will be uploaded to Xbox Live Marketplace this weekend, so get ready to download and play with your friends! In order to give more people the opportunity to enjoy this exclusive free beta, with extended uninterrupted weekend play, the multiplayer open beta will be available for download for two days only, and will be playable through to Oct. 18

Update 13th Oct 06: PSO has appeared on Xbox Marketplace with the demo clocking in at 980 meg, with online multiplayer only.

Update 19th Oct 06: The Beta has been extended till the 21st Oct 06. Yay
