Welcome to the start of another weeks news. Yes, that guy peaking out from behind the grill is Solid Snake…. (courtesy of Eight Bit Strange)

The final episode of Solid Snake’s first <del datetime="2011-07-11T14:36:28+00:00">adventure</del> season has been posted on the Eight Bit Strange Site. If you’ve not seen one of these videos before, then grab a cup of tea/coffee, sit down and watch all 9 episodes. Almost everything you see is the product of a rather talented animator called Greg. Having a basic knowledge of the Metal Gear games is handy to understand all the jokes. Episode 9 in particular is jam packed with videogame jokes and references and even Chuck Norris makes an appearance! I love these animations. Really looking forward to season 2.

Sledgehammer Games have revealed that they are working on a colourblind assist option for their upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game which is nice to see. Also we have an interview with a colour blind gamer going live tomorrow in which we discuss the difficulties playing games with red/green colour blindness.

Limbo is coming to PSN on the 20th July 2011 and to Steam on the 2nd Aug 2011 so now PC and PS3 owners get the chance to die horribly in lots of different ways. In the game, obviously.

There’s reports that a Space Invaders film may be hitting cinemas in the near future. Yes, Space Invaders, that game with that really, really complicated plot and massive back story about why the aliens were attacking Earth. No, wait, there was no story or plot, it was all just shooting. Quick get Michael Bay on board! The mind boggles about just how much this film will (probably) suck.

At this year’s E3, BioShock Infinite walked (or should that be staggered?) away with almost every award going. Now you can see what all the fuss was about as the behind closed doors gameplay video is made public. Let us know what you think about BioShock Infinite in the comments.

Splash Damage have released a “Get SMART” series of videos so you’ll be raring to go when Brink is released next month. Although watching these videos is like reading an instruction manual at work to the shiny bit of technical kit that’s just arrived in your house. You’ll know exactly how to set everything up and use it, you just can’t!

The Basics:

The first training video covers the basic structure of the game, the XP system, weapon/skills unlocking and the different player classes. After watching this video you should – theoretically – be less of a walking target in the game.

Objectives:

In this second video you get to lean how the objective wheel, destruction, construction and repair, hack, escort, guarding and carry objectives all work. And just for good measure you get a bit of a briefing on command posts and machine gun nests, which is nice ;-)

General Gameplay:

This video covers Brink’s SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) system which takes all the hassle out of traversing the awkward terrain within each level. The workings of the player health, basic combat, deployables (eg. mines, sentry guns) and buffs system are also covered.

Heads-up Display:

Here’s a quick whizz around Brink’s fairly self-explanatory heads-up display. Simple and clear, just as HUDs should be. No clutter.

Classes:

In Brink your choice of class isn’t permanent, it’s temporary. You can change it at any of the friendly command posts dotted around each of the levels. Nice.

The Battlefield:

In this final video, you learn about the 2 types of command posts, turrets, mines and how to spot a disguised Operative. Also at 1:33 there’s a really crappy typing animation on show. The characters aren’t even close to the command post’s keyboard! That’s really poor Splash Damage.

Ok, that’s your lot. If you’ve watched all these videos you are pretty well prepared for Brink’s imminent arrival. I’m particularly looking forward to finally playing it as I missed out at the last Eurogamer Expo because of its hideous popularity ;-) I’m hoping that popularity = top quality in this case.

Update 4th May 2011: Added HUD video tutorial
Update 5th May 2011: Added Classes and The Battlefield video tutorials

Brink is released on the 13th May 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

EA has released a series of videos to show off its upcoming fitness title – EA Sports Active 2. The videos feature a couple of TV celebrities and cycling Olympic gold medal winning athlete. Check out what they thought of EA Sports Active 2.

First off the blocks is Sky Sports presenter Ben Shephard:

TV presenter and ex-glamour model Melinda Messenger talks about the range of activities within EA Sports Active 2:

Olympic gold medal cyclist Victoria Pendleton gets right into EA Sports Active, working up a bit of a sweat.

Finally, we have all 3 celebrities competing against each other:

Looks like the celebrities really enjoyed themselves playing EA Sports Active 2. There was also quite a bit of kit being used in the videos including the new heart rate monitors and the resistance bands. EA Sports Active 2 also features an online hub which will allow you to track and share all your workout data. You will be able to download new workouts from the hub too which hopefully will prevent people getting bored with the same old workouts. So it looks like the game will be quite fun. Well, as fun as exercise can be! EA Sports Active 2 will also with Kinect for Xbox 360.

Weefz will be posting a complete fitness/sports games round up across all the platforms, including Kinect and Move later on this month so look out for it.

EA Sports Active 2 is released on the 19th Nov 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
