Ellen Page Does Not Appreciate Ellie from The Last Of Us

Actress Ellen Page did an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit this weekend, in which a user asked what she thought of similarity between her and Ellie in The Last of Us.

Now, having met Ashley Johnson during a recent interview for the site, it’s pretty clear that there’s a lot of Ashley in Ellie’s current character design. However, the original did remind a lot of people of Ellen Page. Talking to Eurogamer in 2012, game director Bruce Straley said that they weren’t even aware of the resemblance in early development.

“We didn’t event know what was going on with that,” The Last of Us’ game director, Bruce Straley, told Eurogamer at E3. “We don’t know what’s going on with other games.”

Straley said the suggestion that Ellie looked like Page came as a surprise to the Santa Monica developer – and not even a pleasant one.

However, it’s fair to say that Ellie still looks an awful lot like Page.

Even Page herself feels that developers Naughty Dog have used her likeness.

“I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.”
