Nintendo 3DS – UK Streetpass and Mii Swap Events

Nintendo3DS_LogoSmallWith the Nintendo 3DS console now readily available all over the UK there are now thousands upon thousands of 3DS owners who could start sharing Miis and other information via Streetpass. This ability to passively share information between consoles is one of the most interesting features that Nintendo have squeezed into each 3DS.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D edition is the first game to make use of StreetPass in its figure battle mode. Whenever you pass in the vicinity of someone else that has played SSFIV3D the figurines on each 3DS console start fighting each other. You earn coins by winning these fights and you can review user info from every battle as a way of potentially finding and making new friends.

Nintendo has also embedded in each console a ‘Find Mii’ role-playing game. Located in the Mii Plaza, Find Mii requires at least 1 other Mii in order to play. You can get hold of these Mii’s by finding people through StreetPass. Don’t worry if none of your friends have a 3DS, you can always go to one of these StreetPass and Mii trading events instead.

Nintendo Scene:

Nintendo Scene organised the UKs first StreetPass and Mii trading event last Sunday. It took place under the Olympic rings in London’s St Pancras station. It was a huge success by all accounts as the producer of Street Fighter – Yoshinori Ono – turned up completely unannounced after hearing about the event on Twitter. Nintendo Scene will be organising further StreetPass and Mii trading events, so keep an eye on their Facebook page or Twitter feed for details.

Meet Mii:

Meet Mii is a site that has been set up to help 3DS owners meet and exchange Mii’s and other content via StreetPass. Their UK event map is currently showing 3 planned events:

  • 2nd April 2011 (2pm to 4pm) – Trafford Centre, Manchester (Facebook event page)
  • Summer 2011 – Picadilly Gardens, Manchester
  • Summer 2011 – London
Nintendo 3DS Live:

There is a Nintendo 3DS UK Facebook page a Twitter account which Nintendo is using to keep people up to date with 3DS news and events. This will include any StreetPass events.

Hopefully we will see a lot more of these events popping up all over the country. If you do come across new StreetPass events then tell us about them in the comments below.
