Here’s a quick run-down of things I’ve learned about Nintendogs over the past few months. 
- Puppies can only learn up to 14 voice commands so choose ‘em wisely
- Make sure your puppy is happy before he goes for a walk – he’ll find more good items
- Double-tapping on the screen will call all your puppies. Essential for commuter Nintendogging!
- The hunger-measurement thing pauses when they’re on a walk, so leaving it in sleep mode during a walk can save your butt if you won’t have time to feed your puppy for a day or two. Keep your DS charged though! (I haven’t tried this with multiple puppies. Let me know if it still works!)
- Long voice commands are more easily recognised than short ones
- Puppies won’t learn a command over time. I told my puppy to jump once a day for a week and got nothing. 5 times in one day and he got it.
- Check both shops whenever you go on a long walk. Sometimes they get in cool stuff like a keyboard or balloons or doggie treats when you have happy puppies!
- Puppies and balloons do not last long together. They’re pretty funny though.
- On long walks, yank your puppy’s leash to the right edge of the screen and hold it there. He’ll run along at a speedy pace to his next interesting point (or choke and whine, but just keep doing it and give him some lovin’ afterwards). Yank it to the top-right corner and he’ll jump like he’s hurdling! Pointless but cute.
- If you want to win at championship level, you better practice every day.
- Disc competitions: Use the same disc every time, throw it far and throw it straight ahead. That’s all you need to know.
- Agility trials: Just practice and be ruthless if your puppy does his little heartbreaking unhappy tail-down thing. Tough love works best and that little bugger knows exactly how cute he is.
- Obedience trials: I don’t know, sorry. I suck at these.
- Lots of puppies means lots of food. 2 puppies will eat 2 bowls of food at a time.
- Lots of puppies also means lots of lovin’. You better have a lot of spare time if you want three championship puppies!
BTW, where are all the Nintendogs?? I’ve been walking all over London in Bark Mode, haven’t met another Nintendo DS in bark mode! No sausage-dog or rat-dog for me… Oh well, no great loss.
Also, what is up with the dictionary box? What’s that supposed to be? “Clicka-clicka-clicka-clicka-CLONK!” Huh?

Hey, to get dalmations, you need to:
*Wear red (e.g. a red leather collR, red bow etc. will do).
*Listen for the firetruck, as soon as you hear it your dog should howl but even if it doesn’t, immediately take your dog out on a walk
*Your dog should find a present in one of the “?” marks or just randomly on the floor and it needs to be a Fireman’s Hat. Once you have the fireman’s hat you can go home and you will have dalmations in your kennel!

I keep getting the message that I can’t enter my puppy into more than 3 tournaments a day – I haven’t been able to enter my puppy into a competition for 4 days – is this a known bug? Am I doing something stupid?
Hi, I’m Nicole, and I’m a Top Handler in Nintendogs-Daschund and Friends. I have some questions and answers for people. Some of my questions are:
1. WHAT is the” ‘?’ Block” good for? (In the ‘Sports’ section of the Supplies List, NOT the blue ? boxes on walks)
2. What use is the Dictionary Box? Playing back your White Record? That’s not worth keeping…is there anything else you can do with it? Should I just sell it?
3. Can your pups DIE? (Due to starvation, dehydration, bad hygiene, etc.)
Is there ever a time when you have to restart because if your pups CAN die, do you HAVE to restart?
4. Is the Fireman Hat & Dalmation thing a FLUKE? Or is it TRUE?

To Lilly: The fastest way to get Trainer Points I would say is entering your pup in competitions. I know that my Golden, Max, has won the Agility Trial 1st Place in the CHAMPIONSHIP 21 times in a row, and during that time, I got 2100 Trainer Points. (1 1st place in Agility Trials in CHAMPIONSHIPS=100 trainer points)
And the BARK MODE is easy!
Turn on your DS and go to Nintendogs. (DUH) Press ‘Go Out’. Press “Bark Mode’. It will ask you if you want to bring something. Unless you want to give the person you’re meeting that thing, don’t bring anything.
(Best Results: Actually HAVE a friend near you with Nintendogs,in Bark Mode, because other people don’t have Nintendogs on IN Bark Mode all the time when you want. You’re meeting with REAL PEOPLE’s dogs!)

nintendog loveer can you have more then one dog out when u get the dalmation or does it have to be one dog?
I’m having trouble getting past the “Call your dog’s name and command it to sit” part. I have no idea how to make it pay attention – the dog is on the touchscreen portion of the DS but it won’t respond to my voice or touching the screen or anything – it just wanders around and ignores me. I can’t even pet it. There’s no response at all and it’s almost like the Touchscreen and the top screen of the DS got switched around or something.
I’ve already taught it its name, and how to sit, and I guess this is combining the two but it’s weird because it doesn’t start off on the menu with your dog’s picture and little (?) button and save button and stuff.
Can anyone help me, or did I just waste $32 on a really crappy, unresponsive game?

Nintendogs is really fun, but I can see your problem. Well, you DID make it calm down and learn its name, right? AND taught it sit, right? Well, if your dog doesn’t respond to your voice, then go to the screen where on tht touch screen, there’s your dog’d profile and everything. Click the button in the middle. You’ll whistle. This will make your dog come. If it doesn’t work the first time, keep pressing the whistle button. Eventually, your dog will come to you. Also, your dog might have problems with your voice because maybe there was some other noise in the background, or you need to call it by the way you said his/her name when he/she LEARNED it.

I forgot to mention, if your dog’s picture doesn’t show up when it starts or ANYTHING, it’s a BUG. Exchange it! Or ask your local game store, or contact Nintendogs. I’m pretty sure it’s a bug. The good-working Nintendogs isn’t so buggish.

i did the fire hat thing 3 times with hearing the fire truck, my dog didnt howl but i went on a walk and i didnt get anything!!! what can i do??? oh yea and i got the mario and luwegii hats

WHN UR DOG IS NOT LEARNING ITS NAME TRY SAYING THE WORD LOUDER AND SLOWER…. GO TO “GO OUT” AND THEN ON THE SIDE IT SAYS “INFO” CLICK ON IT GO TO”ACCOUNT SETTINGS” AND CHANGE THE MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY IN SYSTEM SETTINGS AND IT WILL WORK!!!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
Hi everyone,
I have Nintendogs Dachshund and Friends, and have two Huskys. I’ve noticed all this talk about the Fireman’s hat – well I’ve been looking for awhile and only managed to get it last night. Firstly, I went for a walk when my dog was only ‘Clean’, not ‘Beautiful’, all other stats (Thirst, Hunger) were as Normal. I did not have the clover clock and was only wearing a Lucky Collar. It was also not my oldest dog, and I found it in an unmarked present VERY close to my house, so all this talk about it being as far away from your house is probably not true – I would say that it is totally random. Anyway, I hope this all gives you some hope with finding it! I’ve been wanting it for so long and when I wasn’t expecting it I finally got it!

is there a cheat to unlock chihuahua or the min pinscher? I have Dalmatian and Friends, I have Chihuahuas in my kennel, they turned up after I’d earned a certain number of points
I’ve found a fireman’s hat at least 3 times, but I don’t need it for anything! One of my dogs found a Promise Ring that was worth £1,000 which was nice…I also got a flower record on a walk, the dogs “dance” when I play it, which is hilarious!
i love this game but i also love cats alot more so i wish that hhey woud make nintencats longhaird and friends

Lesley: hello, i know what youre talking about here. what you have to do is: step 1: choose a puppy. step 2: name it. step 3: whistle it to you. step 4: call its name while petting it. step 5: it will go to the teaching screen. step 6: tell it to sit down. step 7: type in sit down. step 8: call the dogs name then tell it to sit down as soon as it comes
loganp: hello, my friend has saw that bafore too. yes it is a bug. try contacting nintendo or exchanging the game or whoever you got it from, ask someone there because at least one person would have played the game. it might just be a faulty game. whoknows.
how do u get trainer points?(owner points)
Take your dog[s] for walks, and when they’ve practised agility at the gym, or catching a disc in the park enter them into competitions (or if you’re any good at teaching them tricks – obedience!), you get points for all activities.
how do you restart the game
candace: to get trainer points, you need to go on walks feed and give water to your puppy-dog. One Best Thing Is To at night put the charger in your ds then put a brush over your dog then in the morning take the charger out, finish brushing your dog then look at your trainer points and you will have about 6 hundred more points! do it every night. In total ive been doing it for 3 weeks and ive got about 20,000 points from it!

country girl: All you have to do to get 99 of everything and the max amount of money (£999,99.99p)is buy dog trainer 2 from amazon or ebay and it gives you that.

i want to reset my game but when it comes on to the nintendo screen and you are suppost to hold all buttons right ?

ok i used to have a nintendo ds and nintendogs game of my own but it got stolen -_- anyways i was walking out with my doggy and by luck i found the terrier book. Im not sure it was needed for terriers to turn up in my kennel. i was already passed pro trainer so i hope it sorta helps!
